WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (MO-08) released the following statement after the United States Senate voted to confirm Jamieson Greer as the United States Trade Representative (USTR):
“I congratulate Jamieson Greer on his confirmation as United States Trade Representative and look forward to working with him to implement President Trump’s America First trade agenda. Ambassador Greer’s experience in helping to negotiate the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement and the Phase one trade enforcement deal with China, among many other accomplishments, will be invaluable to the Trump Administration. I look forward to USTR moving full steam ahead to ensure American workers, manufacturers, and farmers are treated fairly on the world stage.
“President Trump’s no-nonsense approach to holding our trading partners accountable and standing up for America’s interests is a welcome change in Washington. The Ways and Means Committee stands ready to work with Ambassador Greer and President Trump to level the playing field for American workers, small businesses, manufacturers, and farmers.”
