Big, Beautiful Success Story: Missouri Small Business Owner Expands, Creates New Jobs Thanks to Working Families Tax Cuts

May 11, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The pro-worker, pro-growth tax policies in the Republicans’ Working Families Tax Cuts are already helping small businesses reinvest, expand operations, and put more money into workers’ pockets. For Missouri small business owner Jesse Keyser, the tax relief has translated directly into higher take-home pay for employees and new growth opportunities for his business.

Mr. Keyser, a franchise small business owner based in St. Louis, Missouri, employs approximately 400 tipped workers across his salon businesses. Thanks to No Tax on Tips, his employees are seeing bigger paychecks every pay period while pro-growth tax policies are empowering him to open new locations and create more good-paying jobs.

“The Working Families Tax Cuts are delivering exactly what we promised: bigger paychecks for workers, more jobs, and more money in the pockets of working families. As the Ways and Means Committee has heard from Americans all across the country, workers and small business owners are seeing the positive effects of immediate tax relief, including policies that reward growth, hard work, and investment in America,” said Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (MO-08). “Jesse Keyser’s story shows how policies like No Tax on Tips and bonus depreciation are delivering real relief for workers and job creators while creating new opportunities in communities across America. Higher paychecks, bigger refunds, and more jobs being available isn’t an accident – it’s a direct result of Republican policies designed to help working families and small businesses.”

In a recent testimonial, Mr. Keyser shared how Republican-enacted tax relief is delivering real benefits for both workers and local job creators:

“Over the past year, the new tax plan has had a real impact on my business. I employ about 400 tipped employees, primarily in salons, and the No Tax on Tips policy has put directly into their paychecks more money — people feel it every single pay period.

“On the ownership side, the FICA tip credit creates meaningful savings for us. That’s growth capital. It’s enough to support building a new salon each year, and every one of those that we create, there’s about 10 full-time jobs with employees earning $65,000 or more a year.

“And when we do build, bonus depreciation allows us to reinvest aggressively by reducing the upfront tax burden. This isn’t theoretical. It’s higher take-home pay for my employees and real growth and expansion on my end.”
