Trade Accountability Moves Ahead

May 23, 2015

WASHINGTON — House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) released the following statement after the Senate voted to pass the Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act (TPA), legislation authored in the House by Chairman Ryan.

“The Senate has taken an important step toward a healthier economy and greater American leadership in the world. The United States needs more good trade agreements to level the playing field for American workers, and we won’t get them without TPA. We also need TPA to hold the administration accountable to Congress and provide transparency to the American people.

“Now that the Senate has acted, I look forward to working with my colleagues to do the same in the House. Passage will require Republicans and Democrats coming together to do what is right for the country.”
