ADVISORY: Ranking Member Brady Announces Republican Meeting “$60 Billion and Counting: The Consequences of Unchecked Pandemic Unemployment Fraud Amidst Expanded Benefits”

May 7, 2021 — Media Advisory

Ranking Member Brady announced today that Rep. Jackie Walorski, Republican Leader for the Worker and Family Support Subcommittee, will host a meeting entitled “$60 Billion and Counting: The Consequences of Unchecked Pandemic Unemployment Fraud,” on Monday, May 10, at 11:00 AM EST.

The meeting will feature a discussion about how unchecked fraud is diverting funds away from unemployed workers and harming innocent taxpayers. The Labor Department’s Inspector General estimates more than $63 billion in unemployment benefits have been paid out improperly during COVID, with a significant portion attributable to fraud. Members will hear directly from employers and individuals impacted by fraud.

This meeting will take place remotely via Cisco WebEx video conferencing.
