Brady: It’s Time for Trump’s New Trade Agreement to be Signed into Law

Senate overwhelmingly approves new North American trade pact, paving way for 176,000 jobs, $68 billion in economic growth
January 16, 2020 — Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – Today, the top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement after the U.S. Senate passed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), teeing up the new agreement to be signed into law:

“Today is a historic day for the American worker. Under President Trump’s leadership, we have dramatically improved the trajectory of our economy – overhauling our tax code for the first time in 30 years, making the IRS more accountable and fairer for Americans for the first time in over a decade, and now modernizing our North American trading relationship for the first time in a quarter century to benefit all Americans.

“Through the USMCA, our job creators will continue to compete and grow as we create more opportunities to sell our American goods and services to more customers, allowing them to add jobs and spurring economic growth here at home.

“I want to thank our Republican Members on the Ways and Means Committee, particularly Trade Subcommittee Republican leader Vern Buchanan, who from day one have been champions for this agreement; as well as Chairman Richie Neal for succeeding in getting Democrats to ‘yes’; and Chairman Grassley and Senator Wyden for getting USMCA across the finish line in the Senate. I know that the President is eager to sign this agreement into law right away so American workers can begin to reap the benefits.”
