Brady Joins FOX Business Live from the Treasury

June 29, 2018 — In Case You Missed It...    — Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This morning, House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX), joined Maria Bartiromo for a special edition of FOX Business’ “Mornings with Maria” live from the U.S. Treasury Building. Chairman Brady discussed the positive impacts of tax reform six months later, and the need to get more Americans off of the sidelines and into jobs.

“We know it’s early…and all; tax reform — it’s really designed for the long term. But boy, look, every indicator is significantly better. I think the major change is as a country we’ve gone, in 6 months, from asking ‘where are the jobs?’ to ‘where are the workers?’

“And that is a problem, but a great problem to have for a country that’s [been] trying to get out of second gear for a decade. Now we are and we can build off the momentum of tax reform….

“If we want to maximize [the] growth of one of the more competitive tax codes on the planet now we need more customers—that’s trade—we need more workers, and we think sort of an all-of-the-above strategy. Let’s get immigration policy right whether it’s guest workers on the [agricultural] level or high-tech workers at the higher-skill level.

“We need to get [the] workforce better… and Ways and Means has already moved on welfare reform. We’ve  got a million…work-eligible, really good people who can go from the sidelines to the frontlines of our workforce and so we’re going to need to do all three of those as the strategy.”
