Brady, Neal Statement on White House Surprise Billing Summit

May 9, 2019 — Press Releases

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following joint statement regarding the White House’s summit on protecting Americans from surprise medical bills:

“Millions of Americans struggle with out-of-pocket health costs, and surprise medical bills can be particularly devastating to families’ finances.  Unexpected medical bills cause tremendous anxiety and hardship for American families.  While some states have started to tackle this problem, there is a clear need for further action.

“We are committed to working across party lines and with the White House to find a bipartisan solution to protect patients from surprise billing.”
