WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Health Subcommittee Chairman Peter Roskam (R-IL) released the following statements today after Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Seema Verma announced the Trump Administration has launched a new initiative – MyHealthEData – to put patients in control of their health care.

“Today, the Trump Administration took more action to put patients in the driver’s seat of their own health care. This initiative will empower millions of Americans who rely on Medicare – helping them access their own medical records when and where they want, not just when they visit a doctor. It is a major step toward patient-centered health care and gives families the tools they need to make the health care decisions that are best for them,” said Chairman Brady. “As we work to improve our nation’s health care system, we should look for ways to make health care like a ‘backpack’ that is portable, personalized, and filled with tools like this. I appreciate Administrator Verma’s leadership on this important initiative and look forward to working together on ways we can continue to deliver more personalized health care for all Americans.”

“A common thread among people in the healthcare field has been a concern regarding the lack of advancements and technology to enhance patient care.
