Brady Statement on GDP Report for 2nd Quarter 2017

July 28, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) issued the following statement after the Bureau of Economic Analysis released its report on Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2017.

“This report signals our economy is moving in the right direction under President Trump’s leadership. But we have much more work to do to spur the steady economic growth middle-class families need to find better jobs, earn bigger raises, and achieve their own American Dream.

“The House, the Senate, and the White House just took a significant step forward on pro-growth tax reform that will usher in more job opportunities, bigger paychecks, and a stronger, more competitive economy. Working together with the Trump Administration, Congress is on track to deliver transformational tax reform legislation to the President’s desk this year that will improve lives for generations to come.”

NOTE: Real GDP increased at an annual rate of 2.6 percent in the second quarter of 2017.
