Brady Statement on Janet Yellen’s Confirmation at Secretary of the Treasury

January 25, 2021 — Press Releases

WASHINGTON–The top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted to confirm Dr. Janet Yellen as the next Secretary for the U.S. Department of Treasury:

“Dr. Yellen’s historic confirmation as the first female Treasury Secretary is a testament to her public service, professional competence, and personal integrity, and will be key to navigating a strong economic recovery.

“It is my hope that Dr. Yellen works for all Americans and avoids taking a unilateral, partisan approach to the issues we face. Rather than going backward to undo pro-growth reforms that made America more competitive and helped workers, families, and Main Street businesses, I hope she works with Republicans to reconnect workers to their jobs and restore the wage growth we saw before COVID hit.

“I pray for her success in this position and look forward to honest, good faith discussions going forward.”
