Brady Statement on Leading Dem Proposal To Eliminate Private Health Care Plans

April 10, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement in response to Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) revamped “Medicare for All” plan:

“Today’s standard bearer for the Democrat party renewed his demand to deny families the good health care plans they receive at work while jeopardizing the Medicare seniors enjoy today – and dozens of Democrats are eagerly lining up to join him for this dangerous socialist experiment.

“Doubling hard-working American’s taxes and forcing unelected Washington bureaucrats into the middle of patients’ relationships with their doctors is reckless and will surely backfire.

“Republicans – the party responsible for the Children’s Health Insurance Program, Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage, and the original law that created protections for folks with pre-existing conditions – stand ready to work together with Democrats to lower out-of-pocket costs while expanding choices for patients.  But this new plan from the Democrat’s policy chief is a non-starter.”
