Brady Statement on Trump’s Announcement Suspending Scheduled Tariffs on Mexico

June 7, 2019 — Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – The top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement after President Donald J. Trump announced that the United States and Mexico have reached an agreement on migration, resulting in the suspension of planned tariffs that were set to take effect next week:

“Congratulations to President Trump for reaching a solid agreement with Mexico to address the immigration crisis at our border and for deciding not to impose tariffs.  The outcome is a strong win for Texas and America.  I look forward to working with the Administration and my colleagues in the House and Senate to pass USMCA without delay so that American companies and workers can reap the benefits of this updated and modernized agreement.”
