Brady Statement on Ways and Means Health Subcommittee Staff Director Emily Murry’s Departure from the Committee

October 19, 2018

Washington, D.C. – House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) announced today Health Subcommittee Staff Director Emily Murry will be departing the Committee staff.

Upon making this announcement, Chairman Brady released the following statement:

“For over a decade, Emily has served the people’s House with distinction. Emily joined our Committee at a consequential time, and because of her wisdom, leadership, and wit, we’ve been able to make our health care system work better for patients and seniors nationwide.

“Throughout her tenure with our Committee staff, Emily led our Health team’s work to reform health care – including efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare. In addition, she has helped us implement initiatives to improve the Medicare program, was a strong leader in sending legislation to combat the opioid crisis to the President’s desk, and has gotten Washington out of the way of the doctor-patient relationship through our Medicare Red Tape Relief Project. She will be missed by our Committee, and I wish her all my best as she starts this next chapter in her career.”

Before joining the staff of the Ways and Means Committee, Murry most recently served as Senior Policy Advisor to House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), advising the Majority Leader on health care and other issues. Murry has also worked for the Republican Study Committee, then-Congressman Tom Price (R-GA), and Congressman Ken Calvert (R-CA). Murry received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California.
