WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) issued the following statement after Committee Republicans concluded a two-day policy retreat focused on pro-growth tax reform:
“We just wrapped up a very productive tax policy retreat. Our main focus throughout our two-day discussion was how we move forward on tax reform that delivers the most growth for the greatest number of years. We focused on creating jobs, increasing wages, and improving the lives of all Americans.
“Yesterday, we talked about competitiveness—leapfrogging America back to one of the most productive places on earth for that new job and that new investment. Last night, we had a good discussion with Director Cohn about the President’s commitment to pro-growth tax reform. And, today, we talked in more detail about middle-class tax cuts and how we simplify our broken tax code for hardworking Americans.
“We made very solid progress on a wide range of ideas and solutions that we will be bringing to the table as we begin discussions with the White House and the Senate over the coming weeks.”
