Brady: The Worst Way to Tackle Energy Prices is Kill More Energy Jobs

June 16, 2022

The national average for a gallon of gas hit $5 a gallon for the first time in history, and the worst way to tackle rising energy prices is Democrats’ attack on American-made energy, Republican Leader on the Ways and Means Committee Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) said on “Mornings with Maria” with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business.

Americans need real solutions to fight inflation, not President Biden’s crippling tax hikes:

“Look, housing is just no longer affordable. So many Americans just believe it’s priced outside their range, especially first time homebuyers. That’s got long term impacts on the economy.

“Secondly, we’ve got a lot of factors driving this inflation.”

“This worker crisis hits every business of every size and continues to squeeze the ability to meet demand. It’s a big factor in the supply chain shortage. And wholesale prices rising by double digits for six months are going to end up in higher prices. And so will these tax hikes that Joe Biden is still pushing for that are not dead yet in the Senate.”

While other countries are lowering taxes to ease rising prices, Democrats are pushing for Build Back Better tax hikes that will make inflation worse:

“We have four or five countries around the world lowering their business rates to fight inflation. We have a White House and Senate Democrats who want to drive tax hikes up. Those are going to land on consumers and on workers. And Maria, the $1-1.3 trillion in tax hikes they’re looking at land on Main Street businesses, on American-Made energy, and they land on investors here in America. We need more investment in the supply chain equipment and technologies to ease these prices. So they’re going to make inflation worse at every turn.”

Democrats are concealing the costs of their green energy transition and Green New Deal agenda:

“They want to conceal the facts about both climate change and renewables, which aren’t always reliable in certain harsh conditions. They want to suppress the impact of the Green New Deal, but you can’t conceal the gas pump that everyone goes to each day. They want to purge from public debate other solutions, for example,

“Republicans believe the worst way to tackle this is to drive up energy prices and kill off energy jobs. We think we should make affordable energy cleaner and then through technology, export that innovation to help the whole world tackle greenhouse gas emissions. They just don’t want other facts in the public arena.”
