Camp: Democrats Push Forward with Tax Hike on Small Businesses

November 19, 2010 — Press Releases

Ways and Means Ranking Member Dave Camp (R-MI) issued the following statement in response to Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s announcement that Democrats have decided to increase taxes on small businesses.

“It was irresponsible for Democrats to allow the economic uncertainty caused by looming tax hikes to linger this long. We need private sector job growth and we need it now.  The only thing worse than uncertainty is the certainty of the higher taxes Democrats want to impose on small businesses. These tax increases will only ensure that our economic recovery will be delayed and we won’t see the job creation Americans desperately need. If House Democrats insist on deadlocking the lame duck tax agenda by continuing to push for higher taxes, our first priority next year will be to send a tax bill to the Senate that protects all Americans from the $3.8 trillion tax increase Democrats will have put in place.”
