Camp Statement on Passage of No Subsidies Without Verification Act

September 12, 2013 — Press Releases

Washington, DC – Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 2775, No Subsidies Without Verification Act.  The legislation would prohibit federal subsidies for the ObamaCare Exchange from being provided until the independent HHS Inspector General verifies applicants are eligible for the taxpayer-funded subsidies.

“I commend Ways and Means Member Diane Black for her hard work to hold the Administration accountable and prevent hundreds of billions of dollars in fraud.  We must protect taxpayer dollars to ensure that only those who are entitled to subsidies receive them, and this legislation corrects a serious error on the Administration’s part.  Relying on a self-attestation system only encourages more waste, fraud and abuse.  This is commonsense legislation, and I urge the Senate to take up this legislation and protect taxpayer dollars.”
