Camp Statement on Proposed Rule for Members of Congress and Congressional Staff Participation in ObamaCare

August 7, 2013 — Press Releases

Washington, DC – Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) released the following statement after the Obama Administration issued guidance on the participation of Members of Congress and Congressional staff in the Federal health exchanges created under the President’s health law.

“The proposed rule from the Obama Administration is the latest proof of what most Americans already know – the healthcare law doesn’t work, which is why the House continues to call for the full repeal of the law.  While the Administration has handed out waiver after waiver and exemption after exemption for the well-connected in Washington, they have done nothing to lower healthcare costs for families in Michigan.  In fact, the law is driving up costs and forcing some employers, like Central Michigan University, to cut back hours for its student workers.  None of this is fair to the American people.   The American people should not have to pay for the failures of this law.  If the law doesn’t work, and it doesn’t, then we ought to delay the entire law for at least one year.”
