Camp Statement on Senate Passage of Tax Hike Legislation

July 25, 2012 — Press Releases

Washington, DC – Today, Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) made the following statement after Senate Democrats voted to raise taxes on small businesses.

“Today’s Senate vote was a vote to raise taxes on nearly one million small business owners that, according to an Ernst & Young study, would destroy over 700,000 American jobs.  Rather than raising taxes to fuel more wasteful Washington spending, Democrats should work with Republicans to get America back on track and ‘stop the tax hike.’  Next week, the House Republicans will do just that by passing a bill that not only prevents a job-killing tax hike, but also forces Congress to act on comprehensive tax reform next year that will strengthen our economy and make our broken tax code simpler and fairer.”
