Chairman Brady Announces Secretary Mnuchin’s Upcoming Testimony on Treasury’s FY 2018 Budget Proposals

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) today announced a full committee hearing on President Trump’s fiscal year 2018 budget proposals for the Department of Treasury. The hearing will take place on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM in room 1100 of the Longworth House Office Building.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will be the sole witness.

Upon announcing the hearing, Chairman Brady said: 

“We are excited to welcome Secretary Mnuchin to testify about the proposed 2018 budget for the Treasury Department. We look forward to speaking with Secretary Mnuchin about President Trump’s bold solutions to create jobs, increase wages, and grow our economy.” 

BACKGROUND:

In the coming days, President Trump is expected to submit his fiscal year 2018 budget proposals to Congress. The proposed budget will detail the Administration’s tax and spending proposals for the coming fiscal year as well as provide an overview of the budget for the Treasury Department and other activities of the Federal government. These proposals, and Treasury’s actions, largely fall under the jurisdiction of the Ways and Means Committee.
