Chairman Brady Announces Secretary Price’s Upcoming Testimony on HHS FY 2018 Budget Proposals

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) announced today that the Committee will hold a hearing on President Trump’s fiscal year 2018 budget proposals for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Thursday, June 8, at 1:00 PM in room 1100 of the Longworth House Office Building.

HHS Secretary Thomas E. Price, M.D., will be the sole witness.

In announcing the hearing, Chairman Brady said:

Ways and Means Members are excited to welcome our former colleague Secretary Price back to the Committee next week to discuss President Trump’s budget proposals affecting the Health and Human Services programs under our jurisdiction.

“We look forward to hearing about how the President’s budget will improve the efficiency of federal programs so they can better serve the American people.

“Our hearing will be an excellent opportunity to hear directly from the Administration about its policies, as well as discuss our Committee’s work to improve health care for all Americans, ensure Medicare solvency for future generations, and reform welfare.”

BACKGROUND:
On May 23, 2017, President Trump submitted his fiscal year 2018 budget proposal to Congress. The President’s proposed budget contained his tax, spending, and policy proposals for the coming fiscal year. Secretary Price will discuss the President’s proposals involving HHS programs that are within the Committee’s jurisdiction, including Medicare; health care programs under the Affordable Care Act; health care reform; Child Support Enforcement; Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting; Temporary Assistance for Needy Families; and a number of child welfare programs.
