House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) joined Fox News’ Outnumbered Overtime with Harris Faulkner this afternoon to discuss recent trade actions and NAFTA negotiations.

On last month’s Congressional Delegation to Mexico City for the 7th round of NAFTA negotiations:

“I was encouraged by what I saw. What they’re putting together is the nuts and bolts of a very good trade agreement where the U.S. frankly does better – Mexico and Canada do as well. By putting our strengths together we can compete and win against China, Europe, anyone else in the world. What I also saw was a commitment from Mexico, Canada, and the U.S. to finish out a new modern NAFTA this year… I think this next round of talks in D.C. is really going to be crucial.”

On building economic momentum:

“With a modern NAFTA in place – this year – I think it drives the momentum of tax cuts and growth and jobs in a major way.”

On President Trump’s recent trade actions aimed at curtailing China’s bad trade practices:

“China has been a problem for decades now. He’s confronting their theft of American property and our technology. The challenge is how do you do that without hurting U.S. workers and families as well. He’s trying to thread that needle and we’re trying to help him do that.”
