Chairman Brady Issues Statement on Brexit

June 24, 2016 — Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) issued the following statement in response to the United Kingdom’s decision to exit the European Union (otherwise referred to as “Brexit”):

“Yesterday’s referendum begins a lengthy process in the European Union to negotiate the terms of the United Kingdom’s departure. We must remember that both the UK and the rest of the EU remain valued trading partners. American companies, farmers, and workers depend on opening markets to our exports and investment. In this time of uncertainty, we should now begin to discuss a modern, new trade agreement with the U.K that not only continues but expands the level of trade between our two nations. At the same time, I am committed to a strong and ambitious TTIP agreement.”
