Democrat Stimulus Dreams Mask Nightmare of Record Unemployment for U.S. Workers

October 02, 2009

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dave Camp, Ranking Member Committee on Ways & Means stated, “Today’s grim statistics reflect the continuing failure of Democrats’ 2009 economic stimulus law to achieve the 3.5 million jobs ‘created or saved’ they promised.  It’s well past time for Democrats to wake up to the reality that their plan is a failure, and to work with Republicans to create jobs, not more massive unemployment, debt, and taxes.”

Since President Obama became President in January, the U.S. economy has lost 3.4 million real jobs.  Contrary to Vice President Biden’s claim that “In my wildest dreams, I never thought it would work this well,” the stimulus has done nothing to wake America up from the nightmare of more lost jobs and a fast-growing deficit.
