Democrats Choose Party Politics Over Problem Solving

July 12, 2011

Yesterday, the Washington Post confirmed what many Americans already suspected: Democrats are more focused on electoral politics than working to develop solutions to America’s unsustainable deficit spending.  Here are the facts:

Fact:  Unless Congress acts, America will hit its debt limit and possibly default in as little as three weeks.

Fact:  Health care spending is a major driver of the nation’s deficit and debt.

Fact:  Obama Administration officials predict Medicare will go bankrupt in a few short years.

Fact:  Leading Democrats seem more interested in staking out positions to advance their political standing than working to solve these critical issues.

As one Democrat source said in a refreshing moment of candor:  “We should be very careful about giving away the biggest advantage we’ve had as Democrats in some time.”
