The People’s Tax Code

November 17, 2017

Yesterday, House Republicans passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act – historic legislation that will – for the first time in over three decades – revitalize America’s economy and deliver tax relief to Americans of all walks of life. As House Ways and Means Committee Chairman and lead sponsor of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Kevin Brady (R-TX), said at a press conference following this significant step toward tax reform:

“We just passed a bill that will bring relief, simplicity, and fairness to Americans [in] every corner of this country. And we just took a major step toward delivering more jobs, bigger paychecks, and a stronger economy [for] hardworking people and job creators along Main Street all throughout our communities. …

“We still have a ways to go. We have always said this is not our tax code. It belongs to the American people. We are going to listen to them and their representatives to make this better at every step of the way. … We are committed to getting it done and delivering for the American people.”
