#TaxReformTuesday: Rep. Drew Ferguson

October 17, 2017 — Blog

In this week’s #TaxReformTuesday, Rep. Drew Ferguson (R-GA) sits down with a local small business owner to discuss how pro-growth tax reform will give Main Street businesses the chance to compete for customers, invest in their employees, grow, and prosper.

Here’s what they said:

Rep. Drew Ferguson:

“I’m Drew Ferguson – representative from the third district of Georgia. And I’m here today with my friend Dale Jackson, who operates a small business here in Troup County.”

Dale Jackson:

“Given our concerns here with what we feel coming from Washington, what can we expect with the new tax package that y’all are preparing?”

Rep. Drew Ferguson:

“Well, for small businesses, we think that it’s going to make it much more competitive, for businesses like yours and many other small businesses, to invest in their people. This is almost a 40% cut in the tax rate – S-corps down to 25%, LLCs down to 25%, C-corps to 20%. This gives you the ability to invest in your people, invest in the equipment that will make your business more competitive and be able to deliver a better service to your customers.

“You and I have both operated a business here locally in Troup County in a down economy – it’s tough. What we know works is when we have the right business environment, we’re seeing job growth, we’re seeing our local economy thrive. It gives us the chance to compete for customers, and it gives us the chance to grow our businesses, and it gives us the chance to advance our people.

“This will put money back in the pockets of middle-class families, and it will make families stronger. And we believe strongly that this tax plan is a big step in the right direction.”
